District 5

Spiel des Jahres is the most prestigious award for board and card games. It is awarded by a jury of German-speaking board game critics from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, who evaluate family games published in Germany in the previous twelve months.

Kennerspiel des Jahres extends the prestigious Spiel des Jahres award. It is awarded to games that are designed for a more experienced gaming audience looking for games that present a greater challenge. It is awarded by the same jury as the Spiel des Jahres.

Dice Tower Awards (DTA) are annual awards presented by the American channel The Dice Tower. Games are nominated by a committee of prominent podcasters and bloggers in the board game industry. Nominations are based on a selection of games from that calendar year that have been released in English. Awards are given in a number of categories, and we've chosen 3 main ones: Best Game, Best Family / Welcoming Game and Best Party Game.

HRA ROKU is a Czech award for board and card games, which aims to promote board games by providing a guide to their quality to the general Czech public. Any board or card game published in the Czech Republic or imported to the Czech Republic is eligible for the award. HRA ROKU is chosen by the Academy of Games, a group of board game experts.

District 5 Spotlight is no fancy award. It's simply a spot for a game that we - the District 5 Game Ambassadors - subjectively feel deserves attention. Whether it's the best, most imaginative, most beautiful, or most fun game to land on our tables. The only condition is that it has to be part of our game collection and it doesn't matter if it was released in Czech, English or even Japanese in a given year.
